Anyone else seen THIS, out today from Pew Public Research? It is worth clicking, reading, and looking at the graphs.
In 2010, Americans were polled as having an equal favorable/unfavorable view of our two political parties.
Today, it’s gone very lopsided. Democrats are viewed positively by 45% of Americans and viewed negatively by 50% of Americans. Overall -5 approval rating. Are you concerned?
This may help to ease concerns: Republicans are viewed positively by 33% of Americans and viewed negatively by 62% of Americans. Overall -29 approval rating! This is a new record low for the GOP. It is also a record-high difference of 24 points, between the two parties’ current standing among Americans.
As the Pew article mentions, even within the parties’ support bases there is a 20 point gap. 88% of Democrats view their own party positively. Only 68% of Republicans view their own party positively.
This is a huge opportunity for 2016. Let’s get to flipping some House and Senate seats in our favor, and go all out to help our local down-ballot candidates, in this very unusual climate!
