Trump? Carson? Nope. The online betting sites are currently predicting Marco Rubio as the GOP's likeliest nominee. And his campaign has been aided by flowing rivers of shadow $$$$ from anonymous megawealthy entities.
But Rubio's weaknesses as a candidate are becoming more and more apparent, as the spotlight comes to land on him more brightly these days.
The Florida Sun-Sentinel has published quite a smackdown of an Op Ed this morning."Marco Rubio should resign, not rip us off" is the literal headline. Well worth the read. Tears into him for his being the #1 Worst No-Show in the US Senate, and for expressing open contempt for the job itself when asked why he doesn't show up and do it.
I'll try to stay within the fair-use limitation with a few choice excerpts here:
Sorry, senator, but Floridians sent you to Washington to do a job. We've got serious problems with clogged highways, eroding beaches, flat Social Security checks and people who want to shut down the government.andIf you hate your job, senator, follow the honorable lead of House Speaker John Boehner and resign it.
Let us elect someone who wants to be there and earn an honest dollar for an honest day's work. Don't leave us without one of our two representatives in the Senate for the next 15 months or so.
True, it's not easy to raise money and run a presidential campaign while doing your day job. But two other candidates — Sens. Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders — have missed only 10 Senate votes during their campaigns for the White House. You, on the other hand, have missed 59, according to a tally by Politico. This includes votes on the Keystone pipeline, the Export-Import Bank and trade, to name just a few. They go on to burn him pretty bad, saying he should resign from the US Senate since he is failing to serve his Florida constituents.
What a field of candidates the GOP has served up, this time around. Even their "Golden Boy" who has a shot as saving the whole disastrous contest, is ranked the worst No-Show of all 100 US Senators.
Poll below, what do you think... Is Rubio likely to win the GOP nomination? And if he does, how worried should we be that he might win the Presidency?
