Joe Biden to deliver address on the virus
On Thursday afternoon, at 1pm ET, Joe Biden is scheduled to deliver an address on the coronavirus in Wilmington, Delaware. As WaPo's Matt Viser pointed out,"Expect it, in many ways, to be different from the address just given from the Oval Office."
Frankly, the more of this the better. America is trapped with a crude, toxic, incompetent, self-obsessed, malevolent POS at the helm. Joe Biden will become our Democratic nominee (unless something unprecedentedly crazy occurs). The sooner we all start seeing and feeling and understanding the contrast between him and Trump, the better. One and only one of these men is presidential caliber. The other one is not, and that’s a hell of an understatement. November cannot come soon enough!
I’ll add a few points about Biden as a public speaker. He’s very good when he’s very good. Two terrific examples in recent weeks: (1) His Charleston SC town hall (video highlight here) and his victory speech the other night (watch here).
Biden has a few minor senior moments here and there when he speaks and, yeah, that’s above and beyond the stutter. But you know what? WE KNOW THAT. And it’s not as if Trump is a paragon of coherence. The far greater point: millions and millions of us are recognizing that Joe Biden — the totality of who he is and what he knows how to do — Joe Biden will be a solid, trustworthy, committed, damage-undoing American president in this moment.
